Sebi & Jose Kortozirkuito Presents - Spanish New Wave Vol.1
Once again, happy to present you the work of our friends in Spain, Sebi & Jose Kortozirkuito, that has to do with the Spanish music scene, at the late 70's.
Here is the intro our friends prepared for what follows.
1978, three years after the death of dictator Franco, in Spain, a change began; the will to live life and the fun of entertainment.
Music of the seventies, had become terribly boring, and a young punk rock group was preparing to break with everything.
The band "Kaka de Luxe", beginners in punk music and newborns in performance, appeared and gave a fresh breath to the music scene, being the first group pioneered the mood and the will of the young people to break completely with the past.
The new musicians, no longer wanted to be good musicians, just enjoy with their own music and make life a continuous party, without any other ideology.
Small independent music companies appeared starting a competition with the big ones, and "Radio 3" at TVE start broadcasting the new movement, especially the program " Golden Age ".
Enrique Tierno Galvan," El Viejo Profesor ", socialist politician, sociologist and Mayor of Madrid that era, declared his support to that movement, by saying "I fully support this movement, apart from the music, revolutionized music, movies, comics, fashion and other arts"
It was definitely "The Golden Age", a creative era, songs were performed in Spanish language and the music was a harmonic blend of different genres.
Lyrics, seemingly frivolous lots of times, had in some exceptions a big dose of self sarcasm though other times it was stories from the margin.
The genre gain ground in Spain and from 1984 and after, big music companies showed interest, and as always happens after success, the freshness and the originality, the whole sense and the substance that above all, was the "independence", are lost.
Ending this, intro, with the lyrics of
"Autosuficiencia" of "Paralisis Permanente" that are characterizing the spirit of the movement and you do the translation...
no saldre jamas
no saldre jamas
Ahora soy independiente
ya no necesito gente
ya soy autosuficiente
al fin!!
This collection of 6 volumes, you will see my effort to present you, some of the most significant songs of the "Golden Age of Spanish music".
Enjoy, as we all did back then, the young Spanish people that they dreamed the illusion of a new life.
